(01/10/07) Award winning innovation
Following on from the Star Turn's 'New Product of the Show Award' at Dublin's Building Exhibition, RapierStar were once more recognised for their innovative product ranges. The Fastener Fair, Stuttgart 2007, Europe's largest fastener exhibition, had seventeen entries for their 'New Product Showcase', selected from over 450 exhibitors. Visitors to the exhibition were then invited to vote for their favourite innovation within the new product showcase. Show organiser, Jerry Ramsdale, presented RapierStar Managing Director, David Furness, with an award for their StarPVCU bi-metal, stainless steel window screw. David acknowledged, "It is excellent to receive this recognition from other professionals within our industry".

Constant investment in the latest computer technology and training maximises customer service and also assists customers with accurate reporting information. A single ERP solution (Microsoft Business Solutions - Navision) runs throughout the organisation, realising significant operational efficiencies and cost savings. A modern computer system also makes it easy to work across national borders. Of course it is essential that all members of staff are kept up to date with the system and to this end, Kerry Meehan has recently joined Rapierstar to provide training on IT with special focus on the newly installed Microsoft Dynamics. Kerry has a BTEC national diploma in IT and is an enthusiastic and valuable member of the team

(15/06/07) RapierStar® Helping you to stay ahead
As a market leading supplier of specialist fixings, Rapierstar has a long history in helping to provide training when requested by their customers. A party from some of the largest fabricators in Ireland was recently welcomed to their Bosley site to take advantage of the training facilities provided. Guests included representatives from Malplas, Dessian and Senator Windows as well as Rapierstar’s distributors in Southern Ireland, Universal Products. The visit was organised to take in the whole range of product tests that Rapierstar have within their in-house test facility including, uniquely, salt spray testing. This resulted in a very full day for their guests. However, as they say, all work and no play. . . and the evening was spent enjoying a Chinese Banquet in Manchester’s Chinatown followed by a visit to The Comedy Store, where a very good time was had by all!

In order to continue Rapier Star’s fast growing share of the fastener market to the PVCU and timber industries, Christine Higgs has joined their well qualified and experienced internal sales team. Specialist in-house training ensures that Christine is confident, knowledgable and able to help their customers quickly and efficiently. Christine has a first class honours degree in sports science and is an area standard cyclist with many trophies to her name, including most recently the Manchester Ladies’ 10 mile championship. She is also currently leading the 25 mile championship and the Best All Rounder Trophy table, not to mention heading the veteran’s trophy table. Christine will undoubtedly bring lots of energy to the role
